Project Scope
This project was two years in the planning. Stratton Mountain owned by Intrawest ULC whose holdings includes numerous ski, beach and golf resorts throughout the world. Intrawest wanted to add high-end exclusive homes on the mountain slope. The project included 15 lots, each lot offered at over one million dollars. In order to accomplish this, Intrawest needed to develop a significant section of the lower mountain. To gain access they needed to build the infrastructure to support it. Intrawest determined Redi Rock was the solution due to aesthetics and its retaining properties. Stantec Engineering engineered the project and Eric Merluzzi of Souhegan Valley Engineering of Unity NH did the wall design. Redi Rock Walls of New England began delivering blocks the beginning of May 2007; we shipped approximately 5,000 Redi Rock cobblestone blocks to the project over the next six months.
The project consisted of 18 Redi Rock walls, included in this project were two drive through ski over tunnels; each tunnel consisted of four wing walls up to thirty feet in height. The pre-cast tunnel face was finished with custom arch veneer designed to accent the Redi-Rock walls. Included in the project was a 5-acre retention pond with a Redi Rock wall two hundred foot long by twenty feet high. Redi Rock Walls of New England installed each of the tunnel walls and as well as the custom arch veneer; Scotts Construction Inc. completed the remainder of the walls.
